Ossprey Spreads Its Wings!

We’re thrilled to share that Ossprey Security has officially completed the Cyber Runway Grow program! It was an intense, inspiring, and impactful six-month experience that helped shape the next phase of our journey as a cybersecurity startup.

Cyber Runway Grow, delivered by Plexal and backed by the UK Government’s Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), is designed to accelerate the growth of high-potential UK cyber companies.

Through a mix of workshops, mentoring, networking, and expert-led sessions, it gave us the tools to sharpen our talons and prepare to Grow Ossprey!

Laying the Foundation: Cyber Runway Launch

We kicked off our journey with Cyber Runway Launch, a bootcamp built for budding entrepreneurs and graduates. Funded by DSIT and delivered by Plexal, the program helped us take Ossprey from a fledgling concept to a reality.

At Launch, we developed our initial value proposition, explored the cybersecurity ecosystem, and validated the core pain point we’re solving: detecting malicious code in open source code.

The support, from 1:1 expert coaching to practical workshops, gave us not just tools, but confidence.

We walked away with a deeper understanding of the landscape, early customer discovery insights, and a clear roadmap. That momentum carried us forward into the Grow stage.

Building Momentum: Cyber Runway Grow

From September to March, Ossprey took part in the Cyber Runway Grow program. Grow is expertly designed to support scaling cyber startups. With over 60 sessions covering everything from go-to-market strategy to culture and product development, Grow gave us the structure, mentorship, and connections we needed to level up.

We also had the opportunity to attend six in-person events across London, Manchester, Glasgow, Cheltenham, Cardiff, and Edinburgh. This helped strengthen our network with other founders, mentors, and security leaders across the UK.

Here’s what stood out from the program:

• Product-Market Fit
  We stress tested our solution with expert feedback and refined our messaging to better connect with customers who need proactive supply chain visibility.

• Sales and Go-to-Market Strategy
  We explored how to bring Ossprey to market, identified ideal early adopters, built repeatable sales channels, and the paramount importance of customer input and validation.

• Funding and Investment Readiness
  We honed our pitch, explored different funding models, and became sharper at communicating Ossprey’s value to investors.

• Marketing and Storytelling
  With expert-led sessions on PR and communications, we learned how to tell our story with clarity, credibility, and purpose.

• Product Development for Startups
  We learned how to scope and build Ossprey’s core offering while balancing long-term vision with short-term execution.

A National Network with Real Impact

One of the most powerful aspects of Cyber Runway Grow was the community. Across every event, city, and cohort huddle, we found founders, technologists, and changemakers all working toward a shared mission: a safer, more resilient digital future.

The team behind Plexal created a program that’s not just educational—it’s empowering. We didn’t just learn how to build Ossprey, we grew as founders and as a community.

What’s Next for Ossprey?

Our focus is crystal clear: build the go-to platform for detecting malware in open source repositories before threats compromise production pipelines.
